They were trying to steal his boat too. I am a big 2nd amendment guy but in NY state you're pretty much done-for if you point your gun at anyone and warning shots are probably out of the question! A friend of my father's caught someone in his boat and held someone at gunpoint until the Sheriff came but he ended up opening a can of worms and got in a lot more trouble than the boat thief. Good to hear Mobile, AL still has some value in individual property rights. This link is video coverage from WPMI NBC 15 in Mobile VIDEO:

Your second amendment rights are well protected in Florida as well. First of all we are a concealed weapons state. Take a course, show some weapons proficiency, and you can carry a weapon. A new law a few years ago gave us the right to shoot someone "on" our property, not just in our home, if we felt our life was threatened. Unfortunately the meth addicts and crack heads still end up stripping copper, stealing and burglarizing at a rapid rate.

In other words, fog a mirror.

Warning shots, huh? He just missed. Danged Alabamans don't get enough practice.

We have concealed carry licensing in Texas, too. In the works is an open carry law. I often carry exposed when on my own land.

Very little crime in rural Texas. Can't imagine why.

You fire that warning shot and I happen to be in the line, consider yourself history.

NY (outside of the city) is considered "shall issue" meaning you will be granted a permit eventually if you aren't a felon etc. I have a concealed carry for NY but I have to keep a target folded in your wallet just in case as you must be in a perpetual state of "on the way to the club" to do some plinking... There is so much liability in NY that I don't even know if I'd draw even inside the house. My brother got some 12 ga sandbags with streamers from an MP but they are apparently illegal even though they're non-lethal. I can't help but think of all of Charles Bronson's perimeter security schemes in DeathWish!

You break into my house - you're dead. I don't have any warning rounds in the clip.

As far as I am concerned firing "warning" shots is like showing your hand before the last card. It might well get you killed.

i like being in florida the law is called "stand your ground" law... basically if you feel your life is in danger on your property in your house or in your car lethal force is authorized..most states you cant shoot someone in the back or outside your house but if someone is banging on your back door with a gun what do you do wait till he comes in? i have a loaded 12 gauge with a bird shot i feel like its the best home defense weapon.. blast will make them wet themselves and the bird shot dispurses the round enough to make sure you hit your target..i considered a buckshot but you never know how your nerves will be when your getting robbed..

Pretty sure that was the only requirement in the constitution...

But in addition to being able to "fog a mirror" you also have to "lease" your 2nd amendment rights from the government.

If you don't pay, you can't carry.

How 'bout this "free" country?

I may live in a gun control crazy state, but let it be known that anyone I catch on my property or in my boat or house will pay, I don't miss. Shoot first ask questions later. A criminal has no rights in my book. The way I see they gave them up when the broke the law. No one has to worry about being shot by mistake, anyone I know knows not to prowl around without my knowledge. I'd expect the same on their property as well. If your there after dark or without permission than it's at your own risk. If all criminals knew this, and if all citizens were armed, there would be far less crime.
