Hello, I'm currently renovating an older boat trailer that came with a war eagle oat years ago. This is my first time ever doing anything like this I am going to strip the old thing down and paint it first, yet I wanted to begin researching this other stuff now. The trailer wheels-hubs-beveled lugnuts are all extremely old. I wanted to replace the leaf springs, hubs, wheels, etc. Personally I have no clue where to start on ordering these parts. Should I take measurments of the leaf springs and go from there? Can I ugrade the hubs/lugnuts to a more modern-hgher quality product without worrying about the size? If you guys could provide me with any info on this, It would be great. Thanks in advance

If this is a smaller boat trailer. Calculate cost of renovation vs buying new. I was in a similar situation and found a new trailer for about the same cost as renovation

Google is your friend. Trailer axles are available with or without hubs, brakes, etc. Trailer parts web sites provide axle measuring instructions. These are load carrying members so whatever you plan to haul on this trailer must not over load it. You can even buy these parts at many farm supply stores.

It's not that little. The war eagle is a 16 footer and 44 inches wide. The trailers fairly stout. With little research most of the boat trailers I see are around 1300-1400 brand new. Of course, there are probably some newer used ones around somewhere for a little less yet I feel like I can complete this project well under what a new trailer would cost.

I had no clue. I was not planning on buying an axle but seeing this makes me wonder if just buying an axle ready to go with leaf springs, hubs, etc would make things a lot easier on me
