Boat trying to ruin kids Easter holiday fun..... HELP!!!

I have a 1984 Bayliner with an inboard / outboard Volvo Pentra 4 cyl motor in it. We have taken it out twice this year and gotten the same results both times. It runs great for 4-5 hours and then all the sudden the rpms start falling back and the boat looses all power until it eventually will only idle. When you try to give it gas it sounds like the carb is not getting air or gas or something and it will cut off unless you jerk it back into idle position. We have changed the spark plugs, wires, rotary button, points, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, had carbs and fuel pump rebuild and cleaned and still doing the same thing. Does anyone know my next move on this??? Please advise asap. Could not afford to take the kids off this year for Easter so this was there spring break thing until this. Just wanted to add let the boat cool down over night and it runs great again but i know it will die again as soon as I take it back offshore and run it for about 3-4 hours and I will be calling Seatow back out there to get me. Any further help on this. It does not have a water separating filter on it could that be the problem?? Model number on the motor is AQ125A its a 1981

Just wanted to add when I say cool down I did not mean it was over heating cause the temps are perfect as per the gause and feel of engine at the time it is doing this.

Water in the fuel could be the problem, but without a water seperating fuel filter, you have no way of checking other that taking the carb apart and looking.
The fuel system test I linked you to will show if you have a plugged fuel system before the engine. A plugged vent could cause it. If it did, removing the gas cap for the tank would allow air in and it may restart.
Sorry, there is no 1 answer to your problem and it may not be easy to find. Someone has to do the tests, or you start throwing parts at it and hope you hit on the fix.

I was thinking a blocked vent hose as well. If you can make the problem happen, unscrew the fuel cap. If it's not venting properly, it should suck in air when the fuel cap is removed.
