My boat (AQ190- Volvo 270 outdrive w/ ford 302) was running weird- it was hard to start, and when I got it started we took it out for about an hour. On the way back to the launch ramp it wouldn't run at a low idle. I completed a tune up on it previously. So, I thought for sure that the carb had to be re-built. Had my carb guy come over to my house and to take the carb off and get to work on it. And he asked again how the boat was acting. I let him know again, and he then asked for my feeler (sp?) gauge. He then let me know that the gap on my points was at .009- it should be at .021. I can't believe my points slipped that much. So, my question to you is this- at that range .009 where it was and at .021 where it should be is that a huge difference? I did notice that my boat was going slower then it usually would. My boat would never be mistaken for a speed boat by no stretch. But could that discrepency in the gap cause it to slow down, or take away from my top speed. And at WOT I was at 4400 RPM's. I should only be at 4200 RPMs is this way off? would the difference in the gap affect the RPM's in the WOT position? Thanks for any assistance. Krazy
