boat weight

I've sold the camp and am looking to buy a bigger boat. Go figure. I'm torn between a 19-21 ft bowrider, something i can tow to different lakes; or a bigger cuddy/cabin cruiser (24-27ft) that will sit in a slip. I mostly will use the boat in a calm river, a couple friends/family and kids, cruise to a small lake to tube, ski, fish ,sit in the sun and hang at a little beach(sand). My SUV is rated to tow 3500lbs. Can anyone give me ball park figures of what different lengths of boats would be or they all over the table?

Re: boat weight

Go to nadaguides.com and look up a boat It will give you the dry weight (less fuel and toys)

Not sure if you can ski behind a 24'-27' cruiser but I've always wanted to try. You could split the difference and get a 21' with small cuddy cabin...would be within your towing capacity in all liklihood.

Re: boat weight

don't pick the boat based on your vehicle. Focus first on the boat. Then look at options and limitations.

The smaller boat is better for tubing/skiing and the larger for cruising/sitting. So figure out which you will be doing most, and buy accordingly.

Re: boat weight

My son has a 19ft Ebbtide bowrider with 4.3L V6 Mercruiser I/O. It weighs 2,600lbs dry. Would be over your tow rating with trailer, gas, gear, etc.
