Hi guys,

I am about to being a total restoration of my Haines V16R over here in AUstralia. I am basing the resto on Grant's (tengals123) cruisecraft as he did last year. Below is a picture of the boat.

I plan to cut out that hatch looking area at the bow of the hull and incorporate a walkthrough windscreen. I am wondering whether people think one of the newer radius screen windscreens would suit this boat much like todays bowriders. I was told to try and do a 3d model to get a better idea but I have no idea how?? Does anyone have any comments as to how i can get a better idea via the computer?

Cheers

Nick

Re: boat windscreen

i believe the strait 3 piece will keep the classic lines, and with slight modifcation you can still use your top. great looking boat

Re: boat windscreen

I think that a newer curved glass windshield will be a lot of work to fit to that boat unless you can find a doner that has as flat a deck and gunnels as your boat does.

The flat windshield has advantages:

1) Easy to make a custom frame from basic aluminum stock.
2) Plexy glass is a lot easier to cut and fit to flat frames than curved.

An easy way to mock up your boat on the computer is like this:
1) Find photos of boats with the windshield you like.
2) Then take pics of your boat from the same angle(s)
3) Use photo editor (Mspaint will work, Photoshop is better) to cut the windshield off the other boat, and paste on your boat.

Tengals boat is an excellent project to model your boat after. He did it right, and ended up with a fantastic boat.

Also take the time to browse projects on shareaproject.com You can learn a lot from others projects... good and bad!
