Need to store the Nissan for the winter. Can I pull the plugs and spray fogging oil, treat the gas and disconnect the battery and that is good enough? Just had the lower unit gear oil changed so no need to do that. Any other advice? Of course, I will trickle charge the battery through the winter also.

Re: Boat winterization

Looks like an older 2-stroke. What model is it? We have been draining fuel on the motors we winterize. If it's not in the carbs, you don't worry about it going bad over the winter.

If the motor will be stored in freezing temperatures, it definitely should be stored vertically so all water drains. If it was run in salt and silt, it should be flushed with fresh water before lay-up.

The few gallons of fuel from the tank can either be discarded or run through a different motor. We also drain all the lines, as well as draining the carbs.

Fogging doesn't hurt. We fog all 4-strokes and change the crankcase oil as well.

pvanv- It is a NS90A 1990 Nissan motor. I just had the carburetors rebuilt and lower unit gear oil changed, water pump impeller replaced. I can drain the carbs without draining the gas tank correct?

Yes, use the carb drain screws. It's still a good idea to drain the tank and lines as well.
