Re: boat with no ID

Welcome aboard.

There should be a hull identification number stamped into or molded into the outside of the transom on the outside.

Do you have a title? It may be necessary to register it.

no it did mot come with a title in the state of Georgia you do not need a title just a bill of sale and there is no number no where i mean no where i had D.N.R come out and look at it and he told me to do all the work on it and then call him back out and he will come out and give me some hull numbers i am just trying to find out what kinda boat it is and what size motor would be good for it i had people say that a 70 or a 90 johnny/rude would be good for it the people i got it from had a 140 rude on it but they took it off and put it on a pontoon boat i have the gas tank that goes under the console and it is an aluminum tank and it says it was made in 1974 and that is the factory tank if that may help thanks

Re: boat with no ID

i check with a man here in savannah and he has a 70 and a 90 E/J and he has the controles the 90 is getting completely rebuilt from top to bottom and he is letting it go for $1850 and it is a 93 modle is this a good deal and would you go with a 90hp E/J or go with the 70hp johnson for $1350 and that just had the foot rebuilt and that come with controls

I'd go with the 90. That's a good price if it really has been rebuilt, especially if he'll warranty if even for a short time.

That plate across the transom tells me you should check it for rot before you spend big bucks on a motor, why else would there be a reinforcement of it if it didn't need it!

I think you mean Privateer? If so, a good basic hull. very light b/c no insides. I'm guessing it's 17'. If so, a 70 will be plenty on it. If 19' look at the 90.
You can probably find the capacity by research privateers or looking around for some; they are popular in the south. Look at their plates to see what the max is and do not exceed it.
be sure the DNR man will really issue you a title.

also a suggestion: try breaking up your posts into sentences. Makes it easier for us to respond.

Re: boat with no ID

If you contact the manufacture of boat they will tell you where to look for your HIN. There is one hidden somewhere not visable to the naked eye.Ther are two on a boat. One on the transome and one hidden. This way if boat is stolen athourties know where to look.
