Boat wont back off!!!

The winter up here in New England is about ready to kill me, thought I would spend some time recalling some bone-head moves.<br />Well a couple summers back I arrived at the boat ramp to see a school of Bluefish working the bait not 200 yards off the ramp! YeeeeeHaaaaaaa!!! Lets Go Get 'em!!! Well, we did pretty well getting the gear,etc. and made pretty good time up until it was time to back off the trailer! More gas, More gas!! Damn! why can't I get off this thing? "back in further I call out to my wife!" Damn it! I still cannot get off this thing and now the Blues are only 50 yards behind my boat busting bait!! LOL!! I am getting to cast from the boat on the trailer! ONE MORE time before I rig the rod and start tossing plugs at these fish. I give the 'ole 150 JonRude a good bust of reverse and still NOTHING! can budge it! Now I am really getting ticked off and so I reach for my rod to cast, just then out of the corner of my eye I spot the transom straps still secured to the trailer ...Geeeez, talk about bonehead moves. I just get too fired up at the sight of feeding fish . What can I say? Good laugh though!

Same thing happened to me, kinda.<br />I had a small aluminum boat a few years back.<br />Got to the ol fishn hole, got all the gear put in boat, backed boat in water, seen back of boat float up as it always does.<br />Pulled out to secure boat to ramp, walaaa!!!!, boat came with me.<br />Forgot hook on front. Unhook and back into water, same thing.<br />I too had forgot the transom straps.<br />Was wondering why all the folks at the ramp were snickering.

It's just downright embarassen'. Everybody at the ramp knows me cause I service a lot of the boats there. So she herself and me goes to launch one bright sunday afternoon and of course folks are talk'n to me and all I wanna do is get on the water. Mudcatmary and me got the launch down to a science. She gets up in the toon and I back it in the water. She fires her up and I back in just enough to get the back floating and she backs off under power. So one day the ramp is busy and we finally back in and start the science project. Naturally folks come by and say hey and short talk. So in the water we go and Mary is at the helm. She fires the 50 up soon as she gets depth and I back in a little more. She gives it reverse and a little gas and she stays where she's at. Couple of high RPM runs and she's nowhere. So.....she gets off the seat walks up front and hollars loud enough that Spinner can hear her in Kentucky, "HEY DUMMY, YOU FORGOT TO UNHOOK THE BOW EYE FROM THE TRAILER!!" Dang womem anyways. They think they know everything.

I can remember to release the bow hook and the tiedown straps. I guess I am going to have to get a self bailing boat cause I can't remember to put the plug in.
