i have a 1973 65 hp evinrude outboard motor.3 cylanders with model #65373r.idles great and goes fine at low speeds but when you push the throttle up it stays at the same speed.new coils, stator, bottom piston and rings.compression is good on all 3 cylindars.getting gas to all 3 carbs.last choice is a new power pack but dont want to spend the money if that not it.help!!

try pumping the bulb and see if she picks up speed. may be fuel pump or air getting into the system somewhere.

Hi, Valco.

Are all three making power? Does the engine rev but the boat doesn't go?

You have already bought a lot of parts you may not need.

Why did you change the lower piston? What was the cause?

Check for power from all three. Pull or disable each plug with engine idling. No rpm drop, no power.

Check the link 'n' synch.

Let us know what you find. :)

mellow yellow

the ball is hard and all 3 cylandirs are getting gas.jb the bottom piston had no compression until we changed it .it was chewed up .the stator was melting and the coils were shot.but for some reason thats not the prob.they were not good but the motor still runs the same as it did.compression is around 110 each cyl.motor sounds excellent idling.running on all 3.prop is good and lower unit seems fine.power pack?
