I have a 2004 Crestliner Sportfish 1850. Haven't used it for the past 8 weeks, but no problems starting the last time. Went to start it up today to run it on the muffs & nothing...completely dead! Boat wont turn over & trim/tilt will not work neither at the motor or on the throttle. Battery is charged & connections are clean, so I am at a loss & need help. Not sure if this would have anything to do with it, but when I was connecting the battery up I accidentally touched the positive cable with the negative terminal. Everything else works...bilge, horn, lights, live well & radio..please help.

My first thought would be the wiring harness or something to do with other cables attached to your motor.

Stator or rectifier likely got fried

I suspect its a problem w the outboard, so I'm moving this topic to the Yamaha forum

Check fuses in the motor. If you're lucky, you only popped one or two when reversing the battery.. What motor do you have?

Thanks for the help...tracked the fuse down in engine compartment & found the culprit! Swapped it out & everything is good now.

That reverse battery fuse is a great little item!....just consider what might get fried without it....I've popped mine once in 15 years, so live and learn...good luck!
