does anyone have suggestions for the best boating destinations in ontario mainly for wake boarding but want to be able to go for a cruise as well. it would be a plus if i could buy a seasonal slip. let me know!

Ontario is a very big place with lakes All over. What area were you interested in. Personally, I boat in Muskoka, with very large lakes, pristine water and not to crowded on the water. Where are you located, what kind of boat and how far do you want to drive?

The Kawarthas are very nice. Big lakes and the Trent-Severn waterway will take you from the St.Lawrence to Georgian Bay. Now there's a cruise. Plenty of nice marinas to slip along the way...Get yourself a marine map of the Trent and then do some networking on this system, I am sure you will find it very attractive..Oh, and the fishing is phenominal all along this great waterway..

Grand Bend, is that down in Southeast Ontario? If it is you are going to have a hard time finding many spots down there to boat in other than in the lower great lakes.
The Muskoka's, Kawarthas, Georgian Bay, Trent-Severn are all great choices and definitely worth the trip.

I believe he may mean over by Lake Huron. I'm sure if you are over there, you have probably run the Detroit up to St.Clair...Not much over that way I'm afraid. Not sure what you are sailin', and yes it is far to travel if you are planning on fronting a slip....

I boat out of Port Franks myself. If you are looking for no waves and a good close in land lake I would head to Wildwood just outside of St Mary's on HWY 7. We had our boat there on the weekend for the first time. Was a nice set up but not very large. $17.50 paid entrance and boat launch.

Western Ontario doesn't have a lot of choices for what you want. Other than Huron, Lake St. Clair is the only lake of size. There are several small lakes( a mile or so in length) within a couple of hours. Eugenia, Conestoga, Bellwood, Chesley all fall into this category. Lake Simcoe is a great lake and meets what you are looking for and is about as close as you'll get.

Hey look at all of us South West Ontarians come out of the woodwork !!!!
You are somewhat restricted on finding the decent size but calm all the time lake in this area.
Lake St Clair can be really nice when the wind is in the right direction, Southern Lake Huron can change by the hour and Georgian bay is beautiful but you are ruled by the weather. We generally boat on Lake St Clair as we live on the south shore of it. Nice boating but can turn in a heartbeat to a storm. Check the forecasts and listen to the weather reports while out there. Same goes for the other 2 mentioned so far.
Wildwood and Conestoga are not that far, smaller but fun for watersports as long as it is not a long weekend when it get's packed out. Beyond that we go to Ahmic Lake (about 1 hour North east of Parry Sound) Beautiful lake, surroundings, fishing, scenery and never crowded. About 40 miles of navigable waterway and the Magnetawan Lock to try out if you choose to.
