Well, I did it. We bought our first boat today. Since it is a new thing for our family of four, I started by buying a 24' Pontoon. It is a Harris FloteBote, Royal Admiral, 1990, with 1992 60hp Johnson 2 stroke motor.

Here's where you all can help me - I am concerned we may have not gotten a good deal. We bought it from a very reputable dealer for $9400.

It has all new seats and seat covers. And it is in very, very good condition.

Did I make a mistake?

Any words of wisdom for this newbie?

It's too late now, whether it was a good deal or not. Enjoy it!

Correction: the boat is a Harris FloteBote Royal Heritage 240.

It has a hrad top - is there a problem if I buy a soft bimini on the web? I hear of people buying "custom" biminis - is this necessary?

Those Biminis are fine. Just pay attention to the dimensions. Stand on your boat and measure it off so that you know how it covers etc. Think about sun angles and visibility from the helm while under way.
