One spun prop hub - guessing going to be about $350
Sucking sand up the outdrive taking out the impeller - About $50
Getting towed by Seatow AND having a membership - Priceless...... or it would have been about $1100

worse part was running out of beer.

Re: Boating Today

Could the beer have contributed to the spun prop and sucking up sand?

Re: Boating Today

Got out on the water today myself.

Lost a lure, $4
Burned up some gas, $7
Having my winter jacket, gloves, and hat, priceless, as it was 47* and windy.

Re: Boating Today

Lost the prop on the original hole shot when I left the ramp. knew it happened immediately. when we got to the anchorage, I removed the bad prop. After a day of picnicing and floating, decided to get everyone on board and pull anchor. the weight of all of us getting on board plus the outgoing tide sunk the outdrive into the sand. was after Towboat hooked up that I started drinking the beer.

Re: Boating Today

It appears that the beer was needed and appreciated under those circumstances. Condolences. :)

Re: Boating Today

well, the hub does fall out of the prop. local shop says $90 to fix.

pulled the impeller, and it looks like new. pulled the heat exchanger end caps and flushed out about a pound of crushed shells, sand, and rocks. then flushed the exhaust manifolds, got another 2 pounds of crap out. looks like an aquarium in my bilge now. Ran the engine for about 20 minutes on the garden hose last night.

From a potential of $1500 down to $90 ... Cool! Not such a bad day after all ...

No, it wasnt. I got to spend time on the water with my beautiful wife. that in and of itself is worth a million.
