Has anyone ever heard of boat angel or maybe bought/donated a boat through them.
I saw a boat for sale that the person said they had bought from them and was selling for a good price and was wondering if the program was on the up and up? When i looked at them on ebay it seemed like they had all kinds of boats from good to use to needs to be restored. I thought that maybe it would be a good way to get the next boat project?

Yes, I bought my Chris Craft through an ebay auction that was administered by boat angel. I had a good experience. They charge an administrative fee to cover their costs in doing the auction, and drawing up the paperwork, bill of sale, etc... However, since the boats were given to them, they are no reserve auctions and you can get a good deal. Keep in mind, however, that 99% of the boats that are "donated to charity" have serious problems.... Therefore, they make no rep or warranty whatsoever concerning the boat (after all, it was given to them). However, the description of my boat was very, very accurate. Plus, I had the added bonus of knowing that my purchase funds were (hopefully) going to a good cause.

Alot of the auctions are sight unseen by boat angel, they go off the donators descriptions, and it is shipped or picked up from the point of donation, they serve as an auctioneer basically. They are legitimate, they have a Car auction service as well..as far as fears of worrying about legitimacy of auction , don't...but also understand that it will be a sight unseen transaction, based solely on the sellers description and pictures, which can be biased.
