Boats have straps for a reason...

I saw this happen last year at the ramp...just now remembering it. While I was waiting to use the ramp, the guy I was waiting for started driving to the top. Apparently he didn't know you need to strap the boat down. About half way up the ramp, it flew off and hit the asphalt. He managed to get it winched back on the trailer, (with my help pushing it) the prop was smashed, outdrive broken, hull cracked. Looked like about a $10k boat...and he said he had barrowed it.

Hello everyone, I have enjoyed reading all the posts here. I really enjoy the stupid human tricks. I have one that was just this past July. We went to take my boat on its first outing, after I fixed it up. It was an 1956 Larson.My husband was pulling the boat out of the lake, with me in the boat, and my Grandpa in the back of the truck. We didn't have a winch on the trailer but a small chain and a rope to hold the boat onto the trailer. Well, my hubby starts to pull out and the chain breaks and starts to send me and the boat off the trailer. I'm blessed that my Grandpa had ahold of the rope and held on to me and the boat 'till we got to the top of the ramp. Needless to say, we put a winch on the trailer that weekend.

Welcome to Iboats Serenity. <br />What a great entrance.....in the "Stupid Human Tricks" area. <br />Glad nothing bad came of it like the original post, especially the first time on the water. <br /><br /><br />On a side note: I couldn't get my boat on the trailer without a winch strap. I added a safety chain as an extra precaution, I don't leave the ramp till they are both attached. <br />However, all that extra precaution doesn't help when ya forget the darn plug !! Done it twice this year. DOH!
