Google Cajun Navy for starters.

Is your boat a flat bottom boat? That's what they need, or air boats and jons with mud motors for shallow water. The waters are not very deep with cars, mail boxes, shrubbery, you name it in neighborhoods.

I would say most folks with boats that can help have already headed south, the rest with boats that draft to much donate to Red cross and the like charities

Most people just went and did it on their own, there was no organized plan to sign up for it. A bit late to head that direction now.

I would say it is a bit to late now, best to donate the money you would have used on the trip to one of the many charities that are helping out with the various people in the shelters and making sure people are dry and getting food and water.

I was sent to New Orleans after Katrina hit and I was amazed at how many turned out with boats and other supplies to help, I spent all of my time in a temporary command center coordinating stuff and even if I had had my boat with me, I would have been in the way.

Not even sure someone from outside the state would be even able to get into town without the use of a boat as I-10 looks like a rough lake that would keep some boaters at home.:(

Just saw on TV: Beaumont is getting the same thing Houston went through. IH 10 closed at the State line Highwy 69N is closed (water) They have lost city water; have evacuated some nursing homes people North; and are getting people out of low areas. They got 47"{ of rain; Houston got over 51; I got 43.

yeah already donated to red cross when it started , maybe they need to have better organisation at fema for a the boat folks to help in such things, if the world Scientists is right and the waters are going to rise then this is going to be a reoccurring theme . this is not a political statement or view just commenting to what scientists are saying , "i will readily admit its all theory at this point and next year we could have a ice age" so don't flame me :)

I was waiting for this thread. All I have to say is how much I commend those guys who took their boats out and risked not only endangering their lives but also their assets. I saw a video of a man in Houston preparing his newer fiberglass glasstron with an i/o. The reporter asked him what he was going to do and he simply replies "I'm gonna try to save some lives". God bless him, God bless the Cajun navy, and everyone else saving lives.
