Hi, all.
I have a 1979 Mercury 70hp outboard that sat outside for "a while" before I bought it last year. I've been tweaking this and that, and have basically ironed out all the major issues except for one.
When taking the boat out, the engine runs fine from idle to about 2100rpm. After that, the engine bogs down to nothing, and usually dies. However, if I firewall the engine very quickly, the engine can cough once, then go like stink.
The engine sat for a while, and I've been running carb/fuel injector with the current gas (try the easy stuff before the expensive stuff).
I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue, and what it may have been. Could be a mixture issue, carb jet issue, an accelerator pump issue, or a timing issue.
Thanks in advance
