Here is the problem. Now, I've brought this in several times to get fixed and it still happens. (Don't know if they can't reproduce the problem). Put my boat in the water and start it (let engine warm up)..... Park my truck.... walk back to the boat... after idling out of the no wake zone I get on the throttle. Motor seems to be bog down somehow but doesn't die. Get off the throttle for a couple of seconds... get on it again and it's fine. Afterwards, it runs fine the entire day no matter what I do. 8 out of 10 times on the water this happens. Sometimes it's avoided by reving up the engine prior to taking off. From what I've been reading it sounds like the motor is "loading up". Would this be right??? What I've been reading has indicated to lean the fuel at idle (low speed jets) or gapping my plugs a little more. They are at .040 right now. NGK BR8HS10 The motor is a 2002 DT 150 EFI. I was running conventional TCW3 oil and recently went to a synthetic. The synthetic oil in the reservoir isn't pure, but about 95%. Plugs are swapped out about every 6 months.
