The first picture is a file photo of a similar bonding wire for the 1988. I don't think this originally came on the engine but was added later. I think it bonded the steering assembly to the midsection , but I'm not sure were it was mounted.

The second picture is a part I removed from a 1991 engine I salvaged for parts. I'm not sure where it was mounted, or if it was on the engine or the hydraulic steering.

I could not find either part in the exploded parts diagrams for either engine.

The 1991 engine was the first to use TRAC trim & midsection. If you look at a parts break down for midsection reference #43 you will see the part you refer too. One end goes to the front stud of the powerhead. The center loop goes to the swivel bracket & the long leg goes to the stern bracket. That's the way I remember it. It bonds all those parts to getter for ground (bonding protection since that system has a floating trim system (no bolts).

Thank you for that information. I missed that when I was looking at the exploded view of the midsection.

I went back and checked the midsection for the 1988 and the other bonding wire is shown as well. It is also #43 on the drawing for the E225TXCC. It attaches to one of the bolts that holds the plate for the rubber isolator and I think the other end may attach to the swivel bracket.
