am in the process of rebuilding the powerhead on my 89 150. going 20 over i have heard to chaffer the ports to keep rings from hanging. is what happened to cause overhaul. is this a good idea? also using wiseco forged pistons. will rings also break with these pistons vs stock?

The ports just need "Lightly touched" with crokus cloth, or if you know what you are doing you can use a dremel, but a big champfer can CAUSE the rings to break.<br />The ports feather just like a ring when worn, when you bore you are simulating the same condition. Just lightly touch them up...take the razor-sharp edge off, not much...in fact, you can't really see that you've done anything, but you can feel it.
