You can't do the bore job at home or you wouldn't have needed to ask. Bore job could run $25 to $60 per hole depending on who does it. Rings and pistons will be required if you bore it next over size, could be $150 per hole. May as will replace bearings and seals while it is apart, may be another $100+. OR you could try decarbing it and may be save a whole bunch of bucks. A $10 decarb could go a long way.

This appears to be a continuation from your post "johnson 1985 115hp ob ideal but wont run when in gear?" If it is, in the future, I would suggest keeping them as one thread so that the history is there for others to learn from.

Regarding boring them out, depending upon the damage it may be ok to have them honed out and re-ringed. Have you looked inside to see if there is scoring and how bad it is? Before you even go that far could you possibly just have a blown head gasket or have a warped head. These last two are a lot less time and $. I'd suggest posting back here why you think it needs boring out.

Fuel coming out the carb means the float valve is stuck, worn, or dirty. OR you are stomping on the bulb
