Hey guys i have a 94 merc 90hp and there is oil coming out of the water inlet holes...there must be a seal or gasket somewhere in there...anyone ever see this before...i took bottom end off boat already..

Also when you want to plain faster do you lower the pitch of the prop a little bit....thxs

It sounds like the driveshaft seal and/or waterpump oring seal is bad. You will need to buy a new waterpump base, as it will come with the new driveshaft seal. Clean up the drivshaft with sandpaper and oil or grease it before installing the waterpump base. All new gaskets and a new impeller are the way to go, as well.

Reducing pitch on a prop will raise max RPM and may lower top speed, depending on several factors. It will usually get you on plane faster. The best thing to do is prop the boat to hit the middle of the max RPM range with standard load.

Re: Bottom end oil leaking...

It turned out that there were 2 seals on the driveshaft and one was wrecked pretty good.So i replaced seals and all seems good now.

Then i trimmed motor down, then i hooked up second battery for my electric trolling motor and now i have no trim and motor wont start.I can use the radio, fishfinder, bilge, lights and everything else.Is there something in the merc controller that might cause this like the off/run switch ?...i have traced wires and cannot find inline fuse execpt for the ones for the bilge and etc. These are white square fuses that look like they are sealed,is this right ?...my boat is a 98 smokertcraft 16.5'....thxs guys

The crowleymarine.com parts list might help you find any fuses on the motor. I would look near the starter solenoid first, to find them.
