I built a swim platform as a winter project, added trim tabs, and removed a transducer and speed pickup from the transom and now I need to paint it all.

I am debating on what exactly to bottom paint- should I paint below the tape line to match the hull?

I was planning on painting all the stainless shown here, and the strut braces:

What do you guys think? (Yes, my outdrive is currently off as I am painting it and replacing u-joints).

Also, will I need zincs on any of this stainless?

Do you boat in salt or fresh water? Does the boat stay in a slip or do you trailer it?

Re: Bottom paint advice

Is that Starboard with SS cap rail on there ? .. cant tell from the pics..

What material was the build of this ?

Yes you want to BP the " in the water " surface of your build..

However..depending on what your construction .. and the whatever BP your useing .. I would follow the recomendations of Prep/prime of said bottom paint application your going to final coat with..

Your materials will determine what coatings you need next...

It is Kleer PVC board on top of 304 stainless steel.

I keep the boat in a slip 6 months out of the year, in salt water.

Is it an issue to use copper bottom paint on stainless?

Hmm..good question..

I would probably use a few coats of Interprotect 2000 before I put bottom paint on SS..

I really dont know for sure.
