Hello Starcraft Owners - I have been checking out this forum and have gotten a ton of great advice. I was recently given a 76 16' SS that was stripped down to the rotten wood floor lol. I am going to make a tiller boat out of it for short fishing runs of a mile or less. I will coat the inside rivets/seams with gluvit but am trying to figure out what kind of bottom paint to put on it as it might be docked in salt water at my dock for periods of time. It currently has several coats of paint but my plan is to rough it up, prime it then put bottom paint on then camo the sides. Does anyone have recommendations for bottom paint that will resist barnacles? I will of course post some pics sometime soon.

Thanks!

Re: Bottom Paint for 76 Starcraft 16 SS

I can't help you pick a good aluminum boat bottom paint, but make sure it's copper-free and aluminum boat compatible. Many of the bottom paints require a specific primer coat 1st, so make sure to follow the bottom paint maker's recommendations for both prep & primer.

Good luck w/ your new SC. If you've been poking around the SC forum, you know pix aren't optional :watermelon:

Besides w/out pix, you don't even own that boat yet

No pix = didn't happen...........

Welcome, pending pics of course - :). Is this a trailered or slipped boat?

EDIT - Nevermind, re-read and extended docking. Like JB said - Aluminum compatible bottom paint.
