bottom paint on my outboard.....

i know its a NO NO, but i bought it like this... anywho....

i need to get rid of it before i start corroding the thing, which is a 2001 yamaha 200 hpdi. can i scrape off the barnacles and lightly sand off the bottom paint and then spray some factory yamaha touch up paint over where it was? i dont want it to look like a drunk clown painted it....

its only from the bottom of the trim system up to the water line and it does NOT go all the way around from each side to the back, its just what is in the pics...

other than the bottom paint, the motor is mint ! and id like to keep it that way

Up here they tape off a 1" wide strip around and outdrive or outboard below the waterline to keep bottom paint away from it
