I have a question that I am not sure was asked before...I tried searching but didnt see anything similar.....My question is do I have to paint the bottom of my boat with specific marine bottom paint....The reason I ask is because the boat has bottom paint on it now that is in terrible condition and I have taken off most of what I could. I was wondering do I have to go spend between $100-$125 a gallon for bottom paint or can I use a very very good outdoor paint? The boat will not be left in the water for more than 8 or 9 hours at a time when it is being used it will always be trailered. I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I have only ever been told that the stupid questions are the ones not asked.

thanks for any info

Re: Bottom Painting

not a stupid question at all,, If you don't keep the boat in the water, you can use any good quality paint you want.. as a matter of fact, the anti fouling paint would be a poor choice for a boat that is trailered..
