I acquired an aluminum center console and it was in saltwater since it was new in 1990. It was never kept in the water for more than a day. However, there is some pitting on the bottom of the boat with some thru pin holes. My plan was to use a jb marine weld or permatex water bond to fill the holes. Then paint the bottom with bottom shield 70 to protect and seal.

You might want to consider using one of these...Gluvit or Coat-It Google em and research how they're used. Many of our members have used them with Great Results

Your plan should work, but have you inspected the interior side of the entire hull as well?

Some of the worst corrosion problens posted have been on the interior side of the hull, from saltwater exposure and the use of the wrong materials during a rebuild, in particular, pressure treated lumber.

And Bottom Shield 70 is only a barrier coat primer, so it is intended to be used under a bottom paint, IIRC.

After filling the pin holes, likely any good paint would suffice, unless you intend to keep the boat in the water for more then a day or 2. Then a bottom paint would be necessary, and possibly Bottom Shield 70 as a primer.

Is the bottom bare now? If not, the corrosion you see may not be all of it, inside or outside the hull.....

You can't seal an aluminum boat from the outside only, many have tried but there's really no easy fix. You have to tear the boat down so you can get inside to stop the corrosion. The saltwater gets inside under the pour in foam and starts eating up the AL from the inside out. About the only way the corrosion and pitting starts on the outside only is on the hull under carpeted bunks that get soaked in saltwater or the person uses treated wood.

So the saltwater inside the boat has been there from the start with no way to dry out since 1990. If you see just a pinhole on the outside then there's a crater on the inside.
