Hard question. You may get better response under boating. I am not sure if you are asking about the brand or Fish Finder/ GPSes in general. In general yes they are as good as they say but there is a big difference from a top of the line unit to the bottom and it just depends on your need and use. For me I would not put my boat in the ocean on any large open body of water with out a good WAAS GPS and a DEPTH finder. Also I tend to buy the very best. As far as brand goes I would rate Fruno, Raymarine, Lowrance, Garmin, humming bird all ahead of Bottom Line. I am sure you will find some that will swear by Bottom line.<br />Before you buy any Unit you need to know how and where you will use it. Some fish finders will not even see the bottom in 150 feet of salt water, while other will work out to 1000 feet of salt water. GPS units work world wide and WAAS models are acurrate to 3 metters in the us if you can see Geo Stationary Satilites over the equator. Work very good here in Nothern California at 38 degrees north. The combination units ff/gps save the cost of having two screens but also means if want both at same time each screen is half the size. Really a personal preference.. Good luck

It will work fine for you but if you are looking for fish all of them rate there units for seeing bottom and must divide by 3 for actual fish depth. Mount your transducer in a place where you have clean water off the back. ususlly close to speedo pick is a good spot. Also make sure it is pointing straight down with yor boat in water for best fish arches.
