bought 87 Stratos from an estate. Question?

I just bought a 1987 Stratos 179V with a Mercury 150 XR2 BlackMax. I bought it from an estate from someone who past away last year. I live in Illinois.<br />The title was in his name only. Where do I start to get the boat and trailer licensed? Will I need a "Small Claims Affidavit? Will the state care?<br /><br />I guess what I really need to know is there anything that I should watch out for? Am I going to have problems getting this put in my name?

Did you obtain a bill of sale or some type of reciept? Take that as well as the old title and old registration to the currency and they will help you out. As long as there are no liens on the boat, which should be listed on the title if there are, you should be okay.

It's no big deal. Go to the State Motor agency,Show them the title(which should be signed by the estate executor, or the original owner)and then apply for the applicable lic. If it's not signed by anyone(Fake-IT).
