My nieghbor finally broke down and sold me his 54 Johnson 10hp w/tank. Excellent compression and spark. He said it needs an impeller. He had the motor cover sand blasted so its ready for primer, paint and decals. Bought it for $100:D. I'm PUMPED!!

Great motor! I had a 1959 10hp Johnson for a few years. It made my boat
the fastest in the fishing club, amongst the 10hp users.
Take good care of it, and don't let it overheat and don't overwork it.

Congratulations! Is this your first motor or your first classic outboard? That's one of my favourite years.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the parts manual for it.

What a total piece of junk! Those old johnsons, especially the '54 models, are so UGLY! I can't believe you actually paid for that. And once the impellers are bad, you can't possibly fix them!
By the way, can I please have it????
congrats from me, too.
I bet it's awesome.

Re: Bought a 1954 Johnson 10hp w/tank

Thanks guys. I love old vintage boats and outboards. They have such character and history than todays stuff. I love anything with fins on it. I would love to have an old boat with fins(the one with headlights on it). I'm in the process of repainting the motor cover and I have the LU dropped waiting for an impeller, which was toast. My boat has a 76 Johnson 70hp and I use a 68 Evinrude 1.5 hp Mate for the trolling motor, wich I would like to get the orginal tiller handle for it. Both motors run perfect. Parts list would be great for the 54. PM sent. Thanks a bunch.
