bought a 1975 24 ft regal boat

i can not find out what this boat weighs. fiberglass with a 302 cuddy cabin. need to know so i can sort out my auto pilot options. pretty sure the sport pilot x5 is borderline because it has rack n pinion steering without power steering or hydraulics. would be nice if it would work as price is right on x5 versus other options ive heard ( the more i search the more confused i get) so i guess its about auto pilot as much as wieght. any help will be welcome. thanks in advance.

The Sportpilot I've got mounts at the helm,... the + model, had it for years, 'n hardly ever use it,...

Useless at under 'bout 5 mph,...

i cant figure out how to reply to post lol. i was told by last owner it was a weekender but he also told me it had a 40 gallon gas tank, found out that was wrong when i pumped 50 gal in first time ( 60 gal by measuring tank) anyway i know little to nothing about boats just bought one to salmon fish, n auto pilot would be nice. valve cover says powered by mercury(188) so assuming it is. stern drive says mercruiser 888. there is no power steering pump so assuming just plain old mechanical. there appears to be what i think is a rack n pinion under dash (if it is would that be considered power assisted steering)

It sounds like you've got a 302 Ford motor, 'n the MC-1 drive,....

I too thought an autopilot would be Great, but again, it just can't keep up with the wind, 'n currents at below 5 mph on my barge,...

It's Fine for gettin' to the fishin' grounds, but useless at trollin' speeds,...

thanks sounds like x5 is bad choice as trolling is only time i will use it. what about the ev 200 same type of deal( wheel mount but rated for 24000 lb) says its for sailboat but why wouldnt it work on my boat. ive talked to ray marine n got little to nowhere, gave me a number for one of there dealers and he suggested the x5.:
