Bought it a Wally World for $114. 34 lb and 36" shaft. Origionally went in to pick up the 30" 32 lb motorguide for $79, but they were sold out. This thing looks and feels pretty cheap and delicate. How does it hold up? How does it compare to the Motorguide? Even the transom bracket is plastic on this thing. The main appeal to me was a flexible shaft since I'll be doing a bit of rock hopping and stump jumping. i was concerned about bending the steal shaft on the motorguide. This Minn Kota just doesn't seem very durable to me. opinions?

Bowfin

Minn Kota makes the best trolling motor hands down.
The flexible shaft is worth the extra money. The props are super strong also.
I'm sure the plastic bracket is strong enough to support the motor because the shaft will absorb any of the impact.
I haven't had any problems with mine. If you do run into anything the impact will be minimal since the motor is mounted on the back of the boat. The bow mount type trolling motors have to be made super strong since there mounted on the front of the boat and they have to be strong enough for a direct impact with an object with the weight of the boat pushing from behind.
I had a Minn Kota Genesis and I ran the trolling motor up on the rocks and the shaft looked like it bent nearly 45 degrees and then went back into position.
I've tacoed' every steel shaft trolling motor I've ever owned.
Good purchase.

I've got a minkota, sounds like the one you have... just has clamps to attach and tiller steer.... held up to me dropping it in the boat, and stuff falling on it in the garage so far.

i have had only one small problem with my endura 50 , as we approached the boat ramp i locked the motor straight up , loaded the boat on trailer and forgot about it , went to pull out of the boat ramp and let the clutch out to fast and almost killed it, so of course more gas well the whole thing bounced and broke the lock bar on the endura , no fault of the motor , mine of course , 95 cent part , cost more to ship than the part , stupid human trick maybe , wrong forum more than likely lol good little motor though
