I am new to owning a boat and this is my first starcraft! I picked up a 1972 18ft starcraft with a evinrude 65 horse motor that runs. all on a nice trailer for $100.00. I started by pulling all the interior out, pulling the old transome wood out> I have a few questions!!
Is it a good idea to pull the splash pan out of the rear of the boat to make more room!!
I have read and looked at all the info on this forum and I love it, Lookes like there is alot of starcraft owners out there.
Hope to post pictures very soon.
Thanks Brian

Welcome, cant wait to see some pictures, its kind of a requirement around here. :D

If your talking of completely removing the splash well and not putting it back in I would advise against that. Some guys have shortened them up a bit.

I would not remove the splashwell for any reason. It is part of the structure and if you ever fish big water, stop suddenly, or have large waves from other boats come at you from the stern you would get filled with H2O. Congrats on the buy, it sounds like a steal, literaly. Lets see some pics, it is the only rule we have for membership:p Dale

I couldn't upload my pics. I had to do it through photobucket, which wasn't too hard to do.

Yep. Doing pictures right through the iboats forums is a real pain. Most of us have created an account on photobucket.com, uploaded all our pictures there, and just linked to them from here. It's a great way to document your project. Resize your pics on photobucket to 640x480 and use the IMG code links they provide you with each picture to copy/paste on here.
