test.jpgWhat am I doing wrong. When I launch and retrieve the boat the pulpit hangs up on the winch roller. Is the winch to high? When the boat slides off the trailer the nose seems drop down. Any help welcomed. Thanks, RV (P.S. just got my boat.)

My first thought would be that you are not backing down far enough into the water. The boat is dropping based on supports available. IF that boat in the photo is yours, Id suggest you back in farther. I would think you should be able to drive the boat back on the trailer and without hitting anything.

I guess the angle of the boat floating in the water could also be an issue since the bow is the last thing to pull away.

Yes, it is my boat. Do you think the boat may be to far forward? Reason being is that there is alot of the board hanging past the trim tabs. I think the trailer is for boats 22 to 26 feet in length. Thank you for your response.

What is your tongue weight? the boat looks good on the trailer. You may have to install another roller rearward, if possible, so the boat doesn't drop down before the pulpit hits the winch.
Pics from the underside would help.

Actually 99% of the time this is actually caused by backing in too far.... the rear floats up causing the front to drop down.....

The back of the boat should be at the end of the bunk. Looks like your front support roller is too far forward which is allowing the bow to drop down before it clears the pulpit.

X2. I have the same issue with mine. I have found if I launch the boat with just using a bowline it comes off trailer with no issues. When retreiving the boat I am also using a bowline. I will back the trailer in the water till the ''boards are submerge. Then float the boat onto the trailer enough to hook up winch. Then I have whom ever is with me pull the truck up about 3ft. then winch boat rest of the way. works everytime but I am looking into a bow roller to raise the front when bringing onto trailer.

Nice ride. I enlarged the pic. Obviously if there was no bow extension on the boat it would clear easily. I would suggest looking into installing a double roller on each side, so that when the boat moves back about 3 or 4 feet you still have support on the bow. If you have the least little problem getting the bow centered and running straight while loading it, the other rollers may help. Its impossible to say from a picture how long the boat will have contact with the rollers. I hope it can be done without a cross beam support. From the photo it would need to have an angle to keep the center of gravity low.

Thanks for all the help. Wondering if I could move the bunks forward to stop at the end of the transom? Would that help? RV
