Bow Rises Out Of The Water, Stern Sinks

Hi there, I got a 17ft 1971 Arrow Glass walk-through with a 125hp mercury outboard on it. The outboard is one of the long shaft ones( Bare with me, I'm trying to remember what the guy said. ) Well, then I bought the boat, it had a metal plate attached to the stern(see attachment) to hold the motor. Unfortunately, over time the bolt holes had allowed water to go into the wood back there and rotted it all out. ( I got to find that out the fun way when I was driving down the road and the engine bounced and the back of the boat snapped and was hanging off. ) So I took it to a shop to get it repaired and the guys told me I had too long of an engine on there for that boat, so they would just build up the back of the boat for me. Sounded good to me. Well, now when I go out to the lake, the boat idles fine, but when I give it some gas, the bow rises WAY out of the water and the stern sinks down to the point where water is almost coming in the boat. I have the trim all the way down and it doesn't help one bit. This makes being on the lake very scary. Any suggestions, ideas, or things I can get to help stop this from happening?
Thanks in advance...
Robert

the boat is trimmed incorrectly....or when they rebuilt the transom they added too much angle to it....but if you adjust the trim differently it will change the attitude of the prop in the water

So instead of having the trim all the way down, I should be able to raise it some and that will fix the problem?

what is happening is that the prop is pushing in a certain direction and taking the boat with it !

you need to look at the angle of the motor and adjust accordingly.
this could be a wrong pin placement or other thing.

check...(when the boat is out of the water) how the motor sits on the transom.

on the bottom of the drive.....there is a flat plate above the propeller. this plate called the anti cavitation plate, should be in line with the keel of the boat..(like that plate is an extension of the keel)....that plate should also be at the same angle.
so when the prop pushes the boat....it pushes at the same angle as the bow.....follow?
if the motor is at too high an angle it will push the back end down and the nose will come up.

also they could have moved a battery aft....or you might have placed some extra weight aft.

place the cooler and anchor up front till you can work out the angle of attack issues.

i hope that helps

wait a minit.....what the heck am i thinking.....its a long shaft motor on a short shaft boat..!!!!

make sure the anti cav plate is even with the keel....if its not.....then you need a jack plate to get the anti cave plate to the right height.

the prop will try to dig as much as possible that also pushes the bow up high !

Ok, I'll check on the angle, I get what you are saying. The weight is the same, battery hasn't moved.(I have a special built place for that) Fuel is same. But yeah, I think maybe the angle they built the transom on might be a bit different than what it was before. So I will check that. Thank you!
