Hi All,

New to the forum so hope this thread is in the correct section.

I've recently bought a Shetland F4 day cruiser and I took it out for the first time today and was underwhelmed with the performance.

The previous owner had a bracket fitted to the back and I suspect the outboard may be mounted too low but I'm no expert and am quite possibly wrong.

The boat is approximately 18ft long and weighs 590kg without the engine, it has a suzuki df70 running a solas 14 inch diameter 17pitch aluminium prop. Not sure of engine rpm as the gauge isn't working at the moment.

I've included a video below and any advice would be much appreciated 👍

Welcome to iboats.
Looking at the Video, it does look you the motor is too deep, maybe the bracket is too low and is catching water. Can you put it on a trailer, and take some pictures, at the level of the boat keel, with the engine down so as to show the where the AV Plate is located in relation to the Keel. Being on a Bracket, the engine can be mounted several inches higher than it would have had to be if mounted on the Transom

I agree that motor looks low just based off the water it's pushing around the leg. Is it on an adjustable bracket where you could bump it up some?

Cheers for the reply. Will do, I'll have the boat back out of the water tomorrow evening and will take and post photos

Thanks, yes there is roughly 5inches of upward adjustment available. Do you think it needs the full amount?

Maybe, decent pics that show the engine's height in relation to the hull, and what the Bracket looks like, will certainly provide more info.
Camera has to be shooting level, as in not tilted up or down, and that will require it to be at the Height of the Bottom of the boat. Pics from the Side and from behind.
