bow roller or toss the anchor over the side

probobly been asked many a time but i have a 19 1/2 foot bow rider im rebuilding.....ill be using a danforth and a delta style for it with 10 foot chain and different double braid ropes ,,,,,should i use a bow roller or should i just plan on heaving them over the side when needed....

Some people like them,I have one on a 30' sportsfisher,don't like it a bit.When seas kick up a bit,the danforth bonces around.On a 19' boat,if seas kick up a little,I think things would be jumping.

Heaving it over the side has worn notches in the rubber bumper on my boat. The rope cuts it.

With a 5:1 length of line ( i.e 20ft of water, 100ft of line) plus the chain, if the anchor is the right size for the boat, you should be fine in anything up to 4ft swells. I use a bow roller for exactly the reason NSO says... don't want to cause wear on the hull, I'd rather wear out the roller.
