Bow seat mounting and side pads

I purchased a 1977 Invader Aquarius and have some work ahead of me. Most of the boat is in good or repairable condition.
However, whoever had the boat in the past, yanked out the bow seating, installed a plywood fishing platform and poorly glassed over it.
I am removing the platform and want to make seating to go where it originally was. The issues are that I cannot find original photos of this boat and I cannot find methods on how to build the seat bases that will allow access to the storage underneath.
There was an old upholstery thread on here that was very thorough in description, but it is closed and pics no longer show up.

Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I want to try an do this myself, rather than invest $$$$ in having them made.

Cheers!

PS. Will submit photos as soon as I can.

Re: Bow seat mounting and side pads

Welcome to iBoats!

Upholstery is pretty basic. Use come cardboard to fabricate some templates of the seat bases and transfer to some 1/2 Ext. grade plywood and cut em out. Saturate the bases with some old time preservative of 1 cup boiled Linseed Oil, 1 cup Mineral Spirits and 1 cup Exterior grade Polyurethane. Let em dry for 48 hours. The Paint em with 2 - 3 coats of Rustoleum Pro Oil Based paint. They'll Last for decades. You can buy the foam or look on Craigslist for some FREE couches and use the foam from them to make the cushions. You can get Marine Vinyl from eBay for $8 bucks a yard (TrimJobber is where I got mine) Get a used Sewing machine and sew up the covers. Quite a few examples here on the forum. If you're handy you'll have it looking "Factory" in no time. Post up some pics and I'm sure you'll get all the advise you need.
