So I'm thinking about adding a trolling motor too the bow of my inboard but i'm scared or worried about all the cutting and such into the fibreglass that the minnkota (excuse my spelling) requires

is there a option which clamps or suctions onto the front that is no intrusive

Not sure how the front of your boat is set up but they do make trolling motor mounts that clamp on. You could also make a removable carpeted plywood mount that lays across the bow.

There should be no need for cutting on your boat (or most others either). Drilling holes - yes. Suction cup mount -- absolutely not. What you need is a one of MinnKotas quick release plates and whatever type of shim(s) that allows the plate to be attached to the bow so it is reasonably level. This allows the motor to be quickly removed for travel or to prevent theft. If you want to get real fancy, make the shims out of fiberglass and paint them and the plate to match the boat.

$40 at Cabelas for the plate. Up to you how you want to mount it.

I prefer these http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/s...1_45193_225001006_225000000_225001000_225-1-6 to use as the mounting bolts. You simply drill the hole and insert these. As you tighten the screw down the rubber expands and holds firm and they can be used with the quick release plates. These are really useful when you don't have easy access to the underside of your deck to tighten a nut down. They also come in an 8 pack.
