Does anyone have a set of bowrails for a McKee 14'? I'm looking for the low profile factory type. Thanks Samuels

Re: Bowrails

Ditto that.
Samuels - Consider side rails only - or at least leaving an opening in the front for hopping in and out at the beach.
I expect to buy the fittings and aluminum pipe...whenever I find fittings that are reasonable.

Re: Bowrails

Sir,McKee Craft made a nice two piece low profile bow rail that is open in the front. It would be nice to have so someone fishing up front would have something to grab a hold of if needed to.Your right I might have to make one.I'm just hoping someone might have one to sell. Thanks

Re: Bowrails

I haven't seen one of these, but it certainly sounds like we are looking for the same thing. I have only seen the Whaler setups which are readily available. McKee doesn't seem to be very popular in my waters, but Whalers are all over the place. I'll have to search to see the McKee rails now that you have whet my appetite!

Re: Bowrails

I found some nifty stanchions for cheap on eBay this past week.
I already have some aluminum tube.
Looks like I'm (custom) making my own.

Sir,I'm glad you found something that will work for you.If you go on the Hull Truth website and look up McKee boats you will see what I'm looking for.It is listed under a 14ft mckee restoration. You will also get some good info too.Best of luck to you.

Re: Bowrails

While I got into the forum and found the McKee posts, I could search successfully. However, you are right. I sifted through a couple posts. Lotsa good stuff. I'll have to join and take the time to go through the posts.
I noticed there were no pictures and it seemed less sexy than iBoats. Details.
Thanks for the tip.
I've never seen rails on a 14' McKee; it would be nice to have some clue as to what they look like, how they are fastened, etc.
I have some limitations to work with. I have the stanchions which are similar to BW but taller. I have 6 parallel with the mount and 6 perpendicular with the mount. I also have a bimini to add. I was going to use a slide, but now I can get some rail mounts for the frame. I'll want the option to be able to slide it at least a couple of feet. The other restriction is that aluminum tubing is readily and relatively cheap in 8' lengths which I'm okay with since I only want side rails and can easily go from behind the rear seat almost up to the bow.
I'll post pics when I get her done.

Re: Bowrails

Finally found it !!!!
Boat looks great.
However, I don;t like the rails.
I'm going with the BW style side rails for reasons already stated.
Plus, my wife isn't really a boat person and she's very skiddish on this little boat.
The side rails will give her more a feeling of security.
