This is not a "who makes a better open bow boat" thread, I'll worry about that later. I just want to know what popular brands am I missing off the list below?

Bayliner
Chaparral
Cobalt
Crownline
Ebbtide
Four Winns
Glastron
Larson
Monterey
Regal
Sea Ray

Do you really need more to choose from than that? You could throw Reinell in there I guess. Maybe Blue Water too.

I understood that Crownline went under or was sold off but I can't tell that from their website. Cimmaron makes boats for Cabelas and Tahoe is still around. I thought Caravelle was still making boats and so is Stingray.

Do you want to include some of the Ski and Wakeboard types? MasterCraft has bow seating in many of theirs.

Chris Craft has a couple of Bowriders

http://www.rbbi.com/links/boatmanufacturers.htm

The RBBI directory should list all the brands you never even knew existed. They separate their directory by boat type so the companies under the powerboats section should be what you're looking for. FYI, they separate Ski/Wake boats into another category so you wont see companies like Tige listed under powerboats even though they clearly are 'powered boats'. The listings will also show if the builder is independent or part of a parent corporation. Brunswick boats is the biggest example of this, given they own several popular brands (Bayliner, Searay, Maxum, Boston Whaler, Lund, Mercury Marine, etc).

As far as I know the brands listed are still 'in business' even though many are under new ownership following bankruptcy protection. I.e. The Genmar brands were mostly sold to a private equity group and are listed as 'was a Genmar company' (i.e. Four Winns, Glastron, Larson, SeaSwirl, Wellcraft, etc). Apparently the economic downturn affects new RV and boat sales, who knew :)

It would be nice, but I couldn't afford something like a Moomba or Ski Nautique.

I posted something similar and Yamaha was suggested. Apparently they are top top selling boat under 25 feet and from what I have read a very Good value.

Buddy bought a Caravelle as a leftover new boat. They are out of business.

Edit: Looks like they have made a comeback and are selling boats again.

Maxum is dead but parts are still available...and expensive...$700 for a plexiglass door?!

Looking at the list of defunct boat manufacturers makes it easy to figure out what business NOT to get into.

And Maxum was one of the manufacturers I was looking at until I found out they were no longer in business.
