I have a 1977 Glastron Bowrider and where the controls cables are going into the side of the Boat near the transom, there are a couple of 1.5 inch holes drilled. When I have to back up and water comes over the transom it goes into those holes. It was rough last outing and I took on a large amount of water, this has never happened. What can be done and is this normal. Please Help!

Sounds like you need to fill the holes and get a bilge pump.

Assuming I understand correctly, there is usually a black rubber boot that the cables go through that fits pretty snugly around the cables....Cant recall what its called at the moment....unfortunately to put it on correctly you would have to disconnect all your cable, install the boot and then push the ends of the cables through....you might be able to split it and put it around and then silicone it shut.

edit: just found them http://www.nicksoutboardmarine.com/steeringpg10.html
