I've read lots of great things about the Slideanchor box anchor but I'm still a little skeptical. Does anyone own one and is it as good and easy as people say it is? Thanks.

Re: Box Anchor

Many, many people swear by them, but every independent test I have seen shows box style anchors near the worst as compared to more traditional styles. I'll see if I can find the most conclusive one that I recall . . .

There is a reason that there are 1,000,000 danforth /claw style anchors out there. They work.

I have one, and really like it. They work as advertised, they hold really well, and if the wind shifts, you don't have to worry about resetting your anchor. It basically will flip over and reset itself within a matter of a couple of feet. You don't need chain, which I like, one less thing to smack the boat. They might be a little pricey, but more than worth it considering the benefits, in my book anyway.

Re: Box Anchor

I've used one for the last two seasons on my 22' wake boat. It is easier to stow than my other anchors were and has held for me much better with less effort. I'd recommend it in a second. I use an anchor casually when I'm out cliff jumping or exploring for a short time. Normally my boat overnights on a buoy with a fixed anchor. The shores I'm at are inconsistant in bottom types and often relatively steep.
