While removing the old deck from my cobia 186 sunskiff; I seemed to penetrate the hull. I now have a 10" vent on each side of the bow.

How would you guys go about fixing this. I'm thinking I'm going to put a patch on the outside and then fill up the void from the inside with resin, then a patch over that. Sand smooth then re gel the spot on the hull.

Any suggestions.

You might try fill and patch from the inside, and fill the outside with marine-tex.

Mark, If the wound is narrow, grind the wound from the inside, until it is feathered well. Now use epoxy resin and lay a small piece of resin-saturated cloth over the feathered area, smallest that will bridge gap. Now cover with a larger one and a larger one yet, until the thickness of the hull is restored. Now cover the inside of the hull with a piece of heavy roving, saturated with the same epoxy resin. The roving should overlap the ground area by an inch or so in all directions. when this hardens, fill the outside wound with some poly or epoxy putty, let it harden and sand smooth.

Just do a search of this forum, cutting through hull. There are many posts. It is an easy repair that can all be done from the inside. It happens.

Have a great day,

Rob.
