Howdy all, This past Sunday , I found a rock pile and really gave it a good beating. That pile won't forget I was there.... So , I went shopping for a replacement prop. Cheap . The boat is a 1990 2002 model Bayliner Capri cuddy w/ 125 Force. I believe the engine is an '89...hard to tell the numbers completely faded away. I do NOT currently have a tach on my boat. The prop that was on it was a 13x19.
The only reconditioned one I was able to find was a 13.50x17. I bought it for $50.00 . I understand this will increase rpm at WOT, but it should give me a better holeshot. I don't often run at WOT for any great length of time. Not with the price of fuel these days.... is there anything else I should know about using this prop ? Thanks in advance for any insight..... Hey a little patience! We're just like you; fellow boaters wanting to help folks out. But this is a major holiday.
Would you be on the computer if your hadn't had a mishap? I think you can bet most others wouldd be at the least trying to figure where the next fireworks display might be or on the way to grandma camp etc etc.
You'll need to watch the rpm.it should increase it about 300 to 400.The 17 should give you peppier performance, may stay on plane easier at reduced throttle top speed may be lower depending on where the rpm was with the old prop.
I have a feeling the 19" prop was a little too much for your setup.
May have been a little sluggish out of the hole and might struggle to reach rpm range, may not respond well to a load.
A tach would be cheap insurance that could save your motor over time.
Also could help to evaluate your setup to see if it is ideal. With prop size ,the wot rpm and gps speed
we can tell if improvement is possible and what might help.

Thank You Steele, I only said that after seeing that 91 people had viewed my thread without a word of advice.

You said it all-- there is nothing else of substance to add. That's why 91 views with no replies.
