Hi all,
Has anyone in here installed the Boyesen power reeds and had any improvements to their engines and or performance? I have a 1992 Evinrude 60HP on a 17' Sea Nymph TX175 Tourament and recently installed these on a Saturday and took out the boat and what a difference!!! The engine starts sooo much easier and idles much better than with the stock reeds. Before I would have to prime it several times and keep priming it a bit to get it going and now all I do is push in the key a few times and it fires right up and stays running.

The smoothness from take off to full power is also very nice and you can feel a big difference in how the engine runs. I swear it is like I put a different engine on the back of the boat it made such a difference. This is one product where their claims are all genuine and truthful. The engine runs a lot smoother and also at low speeds or trolling it is very smooth and doesnt chug along. They are real simple to instal if you have any mechanical ability and doesnt take long. Just make sure you put some locktite on the screws so you don't have one back out and ruin your engine.

I highly recommend these reeds. It's almost like having a 4 stroke it runs so much smoother but not quite. I see folks putting their boats in the water and cranking and cranking, smoking and not going anywhere. Or someone with a smaller motor pulling and pulling on the cord and it makes me wonder if they do any maintenance or just expect it to run. I put my boat in and squeeze the ball, push in the key a few times and I'm off. A little maintenance goes a long way. After every trip I pull the plugs and clean them and when I start my boat it always fires up within a few spins of the engine.

My girlfriend is always saying what are you doing to the boat now... I tell her well you see those guys in the water trying to start their boats and not going anywhere... I'm not going to be one of those guys and when I hit the key my engine always fires up and i'm in the water cruising. I'm very picky about stuff like this but I have been a mechanic for years ( auto ) and I always keep on top of things. I'm not going to be one of the people being towed or sitting their trying to start my engine and not going anywhere.

Anyway off topic a bit I was saying if you want a smoother running two stroke then you may want to try these reeds. They really do make a two stroke run much smoother and start a lot easier. Two stage reeds blow away the stock single reeds. As the old saying goes.... Try it you'll like it
