Got a 94' 40Hp Yamaha I want to give a little more pep to. Will Boyseen reeds do it and would it be noticable? Are they worth it? What are some pros and cons? Are they fairly easy to install? I'm mech. inclined and could do it except for a carb. adjustment if necc. Carbs. intimidate me for some reason. Also, any drawbacks to using bigger carbs. on mine? Say changing mine and putting 50-60Hp carbs. on.

Hi Weasel

This is an old issue. More than often has someone wondered if two 'identical' motors with different output only differ in simple parts.
The conclusion is 'if you want more power buy a bigger motor'. For many reasons - also the money.

Apart from that the Boysen reeds have been discussed and a search on this site returns 33 hits.
