Good evening. My trailer has hydraulic disc brakes. The electric brake bypass on my trailer is currently not hooked up. The wire harness has been changed (previous owners)to a standard flat hook up. I have been removing the pin while backing the boat around but there is a small shoulder that activates the brakes slightly. And with no forward pull they just ratchet themselves tight. Is there a way to simply hook up the solenoid??(maybe a small battery), or another option for disabling the brakes while backing up my driveway. Thank you

You did not give enough information to allow us to assist you. What make/model of tow vehicle? Does it have a 7 round trailer connector mounted?
ooking up the solenoid is simple, but gotta know what we are hooking it to.....

Do you have a picture of your brake unit? I have this style here:

They make a little doo hickey that blocks them out manually as well as the solenoid. I am sure you could hook up a wire and a switch to energize the solenoid whenever you wanted to though . . . I was told a dime would work . . . don't try it  Other types can use a large screwdriver shank, or even a 2 x 4 to block actuation.

get the proper 5 pin plug, the 5th wire hooks to your back up light circuit, automaticly engages the solinoid in reverse

or just run a separate wire from the back up lights, to the solenoid, with a bullet connector.
