Brake Line Material Type?

I bought my boat and trailer in Colorado and moved it to Washington so I rebuilt the surge controller, replaced the rusted out brakes and replaced the rusted out brake lines (actually rusted through) before towing. I decided to go with the coated brake lines to prevent future corrosion. It was a pain to flare the lines with the coating. At the time I had to change them with the boat on the trailer by crawling underneath so that could have led to problems with flaring. Anyway, everything was fine on the drive from Colorado to Washington but shortly after I got here I had a brake line flare start leaking at the wheel. I will be pulling the trailer from under the boat in the next few weeks for repaint. Should I get rid of the coated brake lines and go back to steel or is there a special tool (other than the usual flare tool) for the coated lines that I need to make the flares reliable? Thanks...

I’ve not “made” brake lines in years. Bought pre-made (double flare) stainless a couple of times.

Installed rubber lines on current setup.

I would go with Cupronickel tubing for brake lines if I had to make them myself.

On my last trailer, I just used rubber lines(bought premade) from my EOH controller to the axles where there was already stainless tubing going across the axles.

I did my current trailer and 2 prior trailers with copper-nickel line. it comes in 50 foot rolls

much easier to flare than stainless will outlast the trailer. just buy the brass nuts (NAPA)
